Migraines

What are migraines?

Migraines are a type of headache that can cause severe throbbing pain, usually on one side of the head. They are frequently accompanied by other sypmtoms that can include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Some people experience auras before or during the migraine. Auras can include flashes of light, blind spots, or seeing zig-zag lines.

When to see a doctor?

The best time to contact us is when you are currently experiencing a migraine. We will do our best to see you right away and evaluate you to see if you are a good candidate for a SphenoCath procedure. This procedure is quick and painless and can provide immediate relief for your migraine.

Treatment options

There are numerous medications that can be prescribed to help with migraine relief. Also, for some people a lifestyle change can have a very positive effect. For more severe cases, we often turn to a prodecure known as a sphenopalatine ganglion block (SphenoCath). This short inpatient prodecure applies pain medication directly to a nerve bundle at the back of the throat and provides lasting relief for many patients.
